Faith and Prayers of the Small and Fearless

It has been a unique opportunity to be able to put the boys to bed more than twice a week lately.  Bathtime is always unpredictable, zähneputzen (teeth brushing) is inevitable, book reading is a privilege and prayers are a must.

Patrick has been trying to work with the boys on Prayer and the nature thereof and tonight it really started to show. Nico actually offered to say the bedtime prayer tonight, if I would help him, and that was really sweet. Just as I settled into the red chair to await the sweet snores of Phin he began to pray himself. It was the sweetest prayer I have heard him say, asking for protection and health for Mom and Dad as well as for them to "come home safely" and giving thanks for the simple things like Kindergarten. It was just another good moment for me. So, I tucked them in with blankets and kisses and then sang the primary song I ALWAYS sing... this time Phin started to sing along.

It is such a critical and important time when children are small. There are so many things that they begin to learn about life and their divine nature. I love to think about how just a short time they were with our Heavenly Father. Pretty cool if you ask me. No wonder we are instructed to become as little children. Often their testimonies, at church or otherwise, are my favorite to hear. They bring me back to the simplicity of the gospel that we tend to feel complacent about within all our "experience". Children often talk to God as if he is right next to them. They testify of him as if he sat in the congregation... and they say what they truly feel... and they don´t worry about the reprocussions of their words because they know what they know and they don´t care what people think about it.

Oh if only I could always be humble enough to have the faith and prayers of our small and fearless.
