The men in my life…

I thought the title might get your attention… but don’t get too excited.

So, I have been home from my mission for a while now. I know that a lot of people had certain expectations, and certain people they would have liked me to end up with. Then I “ran away” to Germany. Men are equally complicated in all the world. The roommate of a high school friend said it best when she said “Men are problems that come in VERY attractive packages” I am going to have to agree. Some of the most frequently asked questions I get are:

“So, how are the men in Germany?”
“Are the guys in Germany cute?”
“Are you dating anyone?”

Etc. etc.

If you will notice, they all fall in the same category. Perhaps you may think I should look at this with a sense of urgency. However, I will restate that I did not come to Europe to find my “Eternal Companion”. Sorry to disappoint you. This doesn’t mean that I don’t look, of course. In fact, I have a little list I’ll share. (Keep in mind that this is my personal opinion.) In terms of European countries I have visited…from less desirable to people I might even consider…

5.Czech Republic

Prague. Maybe it’s different in other parts of the country? But it’s a definite and resounding NO!

4.Germany

Sad that they fall so far behind, but the funny haircuts have to go. It’s a disgrace to my profession!

3.Austria

Too bad I wasn’t there long enough to really get a better look
2.Switzerland

Swiss men are pretty good-looking but…
1.Sweden

Wins! Sweden is a place I could never live. They are so beautiful I would probably blush if one of them yelled at me… I would look like a chubby rag mop there.

So there you have it. The only guys I associate with are Patrick, (who, in all fairness, did get me flowers on my birthday and Valentine’s Day) the missionaries, (whom it’s my calling to help, and they don’t count anyway) and the little boys. One day I’m sure I’ll be able to answer everyone’s questions in a more positive than skeptical way. Finn asked me one day on his way up to bed “Anya, can I kiss you goodnight?” It was the cutest thing ever as he laid one of his big slobbery wet ones on me, but I had to laugh to myself, “Man has it ever been a while since I’ve heard that!” All in due time people, all in due time… if I can wait, so can you!
